Pest Alert: Gypsy Moths

We can diagnosis your plant problems and offer solutionsGypsy Moths spread throughout the Northeast defoliating trees and leaving them vulnerable to other potential problems. This renewed outbreak may be linked to the recent drought conditions that we experienced in 2015 and 2016.

Help us protect your trees by looking for these potential signs that can possibly prevent an outbreak.

  1. Orange-Brown egg masses that form on tree trunks in the fall and early winter.
  2. Watch for caterpillars that hatch in May and feed into early summer.
  3. Holes in leaves can result in possible complete defoliation by early summer.
  4. Alert your neighbor's, damage will spread from one tree to the next after the larvae hatch.

Let's hope for abundant rainfall in May and June to keep the population down in 2017.
